APPROVED BY: Superintendent of Financial Services
PUBLISHED: Bulletin June 2005
EFFECTIVE DATE: September 1, 2005
Starting September 1, 2005, a candidate who is not successful after three attempts at a Life Licence Qualification Program (LLQP) examination is not eligible to write the same type of examination for six months after the date of his or her third unsuccessful attempt. Each subsequent attempt at passing the examination requires a further six month waiting period. As of September 1, 2005, all candidates who register to write the LLQP examination will be treated as having no previous attempts.
Candidates require valid course certificate
To be eligible to attempt the LLQP examination, a candidate must have a valid certificate from an authorized course provider. If the certificate has expired and the candidate hasn’t passed the LLQP examination, he or she is required to obtain another certificate before being permitted to attempt the LLQP examination.
Three attempts per type of exam
Qualified candidates may make three attempts at passing each of the LLQP examinations (life, accident and sickness, life - Transitional Restricted A) without being subject to the six month waiting period.
This policy does not apply to Part B of the Transitional Restricted exam
This policy does not apply to agents holding a Restricted LLQP licence who attempt to complete the Residual B or full LLQP examination. Agents holding a Restricted LLQP licence already have a time limitation to obtain a full LLQP licence so the six month waiting period does not apply.
Other jurisdictions
This policy does not apply to candidates who have attempted the LLQP examination in jurisdictions other than Ontario. However, other jurisdictions may have their own policies regarding the rewriting of LLQP examinations.
